Decluttering and Organisation Services

Professional support to declutter with innovative solutions for organisation….

Having worked with many people since becoming a professional organiser, one thing is clear: we are all harsh critics of ourselves, especially when we feel we’ve become cluttered. It can then feel challenging to let someone into your space to see how unorganised you feel you are. However, I can honestly say - it’s never as bad as you believe it to be.

There will be circumstances that have added to why you’ve become cluttered. Some people I work with are highly organised, highly functioning individuals, especially in one or more areas of their life and can’t understand why they can’t apply this to their home environment. Circumstances range from having an incredibly busy life to experiencing ADHD or other neurodivergence that means staying organised is challenging, and the usual approaches to decluttering don’t work. Or, they have experienced illness or a bereavement, which has stalled their life and just need support to get through the blocks and stagnation.

By looking at the reasons you’ve become cluttered as we start to clear your home, an organisational system will start to present itself that is in sympathy with the way your mind works and how your lifestyle dictates what items you need close to hand. This means all my services are bespoke and work with you, tailored to suit you and in synergy with who you are.

Together we’ll create a clean, organised and relaxed environment for you to come home to. Read below for a step-by-step guide of how we will work together and also look at the Q&A’s at the bottom of the page for any questions you may have. Set-by-step declutter and organisation:

  • We decide on a level of service, this depends on your budget and how able you are to complete sections without my help. Once this is in place we create a vision for your declutter

  • Visioning is extremely important and we take time to look at how you’d like your space to function, how it will support you and create the clarity you will need to carry you through the declutter, especially when you lose impetuous or drive to complete

  • We work through your things together, deciding what to keep and what to let go of. The things you let off can be sold, recycled or given to charity

  • Once your spaces are clear of clutter, we then put in new structures of organisation. I carefully create this for you, developing your bespoke storage to your personal taste and to the flow of your life

  • Finally I create personalised labels so you can find everything ease-fully, reducing stress and making cleaning so much easier!

Now read the Decluttering Q&A’s for all those details you need to know!

A woman with curly hair appears worried, holding her face with one hand, standing in front of a sign that reads 'HELP!' and a pile of books. A bag with a sock hanging out is beside her, and there are other wires or cords on a stand in the background.
  • That’s a great question! The reason why you pay me is because of my experience and skills. Having worked with many people and honed an ability to support people through any feelings that arise from decluttering, I make getting your home organised very stress free.

You are paying for a trained, insured, accountable, professional service. This means you can rest into the support you have provided for yourself and be assured you will achieve your goal.

  • Although a cleaner is a skilled practitioner that works extremely hard, a declutterer brings many more skills to your project.

Firstly, I offer an ability to hold space for you. This means that no matter what your feeling, you can express it safely. You may end up feeling sad, upset, angry, challenged and sometimes just depressed when you start to tackle with me all of the years of putting off doing things. Especially if your facing the loss of someone or even the loss of yourself due to illness. Although I am not a trained councillor, I am trained in various therapies and have held space for healing in many modalities.

Secondly, I have a wealth of practical skills that I bring. I am a project manager, having worked on small and large projects throughout my career. This means I can oversee a project in great detail.I overview and predict when things need to be achieved by and ensure that any materials or research we need to complete tasks/ organisational system arrive on time. I also have developed a keen eye for detail and design. So that your home will look and feel like your ideal space by the time we have finished.

Thirdly, I have developed relationships with trades people, removal companies, charities, house clearance and auction houses. This means I have local knowledge to ensure your declutter is achieved smoothly. I also know a wealth of information about where to and how to best sell, recycle or upcycle your belongings.

This knowledge and skill base is valueable and means you are investing in a total life audit. This isn’t just a tidy up - this is a life restyle.

  • Yes, I am more than happy to help with this. Firstly I would take an audit of your furniture, then measure your room. Using this information, I put this into a basic room design app that I have. We can then move furniture around and see if it will fit before we try to move it. Once your happy with the plan, I may bring an assistant with me to complete the furniture reorganisation.

If you’d like to buy or replace furniture we can also work out what will fit in your space before you buy.

  • In short no, I will never be force you to relinquish what your not ready to let go off.

To help you in your decision making, I have various techniques to help you make decisions and to keep only what will serve you going forwards.

However, I will encourage you to get in touch with why your keeping it and if it really is best for you. For example if you have 6 white t-shirts all virtually the same. I will ask you to look at how many you actually need and if there are a couple that you can let go off.

  • Yes, I have public liability and employer insurance. This means myself and my assistants are insured. Myself and my assistants are also DBS checked ensuring you can trust us.

Our contract holds me accountable to you, as does your vision. As long as you work with me and complete homework - I guarantee you will create the vision you want for yourself. However, just to belt and brace this, I am also a member of APDO which is the governing body for organisers in the UK. If you ever have any reason to complain you can take this to them.

  • This depends on the reason and timing of your cancellation. If you cancel any service within 48 hrs of our appointment, I am more than happy to reschedule with no additional charge.

After this period, it will be up to my discretion. However, I tend to charge 50% of the intended appointment up until then day of the appointment. After that you’ll be charged full price.

If you are sick or your children are sick, or you have a unexpected emergency, again this is up to my discretion. Generally, I cancel with no charge unless I have booked an assistant, in which case you will need to cover their expenses, especially if they have set off to your appointment.

  • I have extensive local knowledge of auction houses, house clearance, council services, charities and a range of specialist sellers that take on anything from coins to comic collections. I can help you decide where to send your belongings and not just get rid of them at the tip. Wherever possible I find the most economic solution for you and the best recycling option for the environment.

  • There is no gauge of time I can use for this because every house is different, and every person is different. It also depends on what we are sorting through, sometimes, where just done with things and letting go is a quick process. For other things, especially if they are sentimental or, if it’s paperwork you may have some fears about letting things go. Then this takes more time and, it needs to take the time it takes. Rushing is not the solution as it can undermine progress later.

However, if you have an impending event, move or your concerned about budget, I can work with you to ensure you meet target dates and stretch your budget to enable completion.

  • I charge £45 per hr plus 55p per mile travel. However, for large projects I also offer discounts and one off fee/ completion invoices so you can budget your move effectively.

In terms of the cost for your project it does depend on the time it will take and the level of support you will receive. It is a bespoke service so i will be able to give you a clearer idea of the cost in a quote.

Before starting a project with you I will take a deposit based on the quote. Which I will offset on each monthly invoice until we have completed.
